- Golden State Warriors' point-guard, Stephen Curry, wins 2014-2015 NBA MVP Title.
Given his increased chances to win the MVP, it stands to reason that he will enter next season as the favorite to win the Rookie of the Year award, though he may have some tough competition.
A bruised knee cut his Summer League debut short on July 5 and the Pelicans opted to sit the No. 1 overall pick for the duration of their time in Las Vegas.
Williamson recorded 11 points and three rebounds in his short stint and looked to be the same player that captivated the basketball world at Duke last season.
By all accounts, Williamson will likely have a good chance to play heavy minutes next season for the Pelicans. His knee injury isn’t thought to be serious as the team held him out merely as precautionary reasons.
Based on the play of others at Summer League, though, Williamson could face some tough competition for the ROY award, which figures to make for a fun race all season long.
Despite his projection to play next season, it still seems highly unlikely he’ll have a real chance to compete for the MVP award but it doesn’t hurt to think about the possibilities.
