Online NASCAR Betting Odds: Coca-Cola 600 PreviewFriday, May 27, 2011by Bodog Sportsbook
NASCAR betting heads back to the regular schedule with Sunday night’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway after last week’s All-Star Race, and it’ll be good to see Kyle Busch get away with speeding for once.
Busch, of course, was caught going 128 miles per hour in a 45-mph zone earlier this week, but he won’t have to deal with the long arm of the law in Charlotte. He will have to contend with the likes of Carl Edwards, who is coming off a dominating performance in winning the All-Star Race.
Bodog has Busch and Edwards as +500 co-favorites for Sunday, but the Sprint Cup Series points leader is the better bet. Edwards just finished winning on this track, after all, and he’s been rock-solid on this type of track all season.
Edwards cashed at Las Vegas, was sixth at California, third at Texas, and second at Darlington, and has five straight top 10s and an average finish of 7.2 in 2011.
Busch typically runs really well at Charlotte and that’s why he’s at the top of the odds list along with Edwards. Eighth or better in seven consecutive races at Charlotte, Busch leads the Series with 652 points over the last four stops there. Second on that list? David Reutimann (+3300 odds to win the Coca-Cola 600).
Don’t count out Jimmie Johnson (+700), though. Any time you can get the five-time defending Cup champion at that price, it should be considered. Johnson is second in the Chase (ahead of where he was at this time last season), and he’s won this race three times.
Johnson remains a +300 co-fave along with Edwards to win the Cup again this year at Bodog Sportsbook. Busch is set at +350, while Kevin Harvick (+750) is fourth on the list.
